I met Cindy Crawford on December 16th, 2015 when she was promoting her book “Becoming” at the Nourse Theater in San Francisco. Cindy was interviewed on stage and she was stylish, attractive and articulate – and very careful with her word choices. She seems like a woman who knows how to create boundaries and be mindful that what she says could be megaphoned. Interestingly, she talked about being more of a reserved personality and not a huge seeker of attention. Additionally, she had some very interesting comments about fame and social media. Specifically, that she doesn’t care if people say whatever they want about HER, but that it really upsets her when the Internet goes after he daughter, Kaia Gerber, who was only 15 at the time. Cindy really comes across as a strong family-minded woman and a total mama bear.
For the book signing after the on-stage discussion, we noticed that security was extra tight, she was polite – but guarded and her vibe seemed to be one of promotional obligation, all business. She’s also tall (5’10”), glowing and extremely stunning in a much more natural way than other famous women her age.
As I was next in line and smiled to approach her, I don’t remember exactly what my comment was other than a request her to sign the COVER of her book instead of the inside, but she responded to me in a really nice way. Pushing the boundaries (BOOK ONLY!), I said that I had two beautiful pictures that I’d love for her to sign and that they were just for me – I’m not an ebay seller – I’m a long time fan! She acquiesced and when I pushed even further and asked to take a photo with her, she actually told her security guards it was OK and I was the only person who was allowed to get behind the table, sit next to her and have this photo taken. You can see how happy I was! Oh … and she smelled so good!!
