My knowledge of Hammer Horror Women is primarily rooted in Ingrid Pitt and my fascination with her portrayal in "Countess Dracula" - which led to my even greater obsession with the character she played, the real-life serial killer, torturer, and brutalizer Elisabeth Bathory. Truth is stranger than fiction - "The Blood Countess" has been researched in great detail including the records from her trial. As you can see from my book collection, I've dug deep in the Bathory legend and gory details. The things she did to young girls is mind-blowing. This short documentary is a pretty good summation of the facts:

But alas, my knowledge of Hammer Horror is like that of a zygote compared to my buddy Michael Augustine-Reed, who has not only befriended many of these women, but could literally write the definitive tome on Hammer films and their female stars. I bow down!!!

I had to buy this classic image autograph of a fang-baring ANDREE MELLY in “Brides of Dracula”, but I initially got interested in her seeing her in a Pat Boone movie "The Horror of It All" (1964)

I met SUZANNA LEIGH in person, and I’ve got some great stories of hanging around with her after the convention.  We were by the pool as she was smoking and talking about her good friend, Joan (Collins) and asked me where I was staying and what I did for a living.  Her intensity combined with the off-the-cuff random, yet personal, questions kept me on my toes.  She was very engaging.  She reminded me a bit of Joanna Lumley. I should have asked her to dinner.

VERONICA CARLSON – one of the most beautiful girls of the Women of Hammer Horror Films. My friend Michael was very close with Veronica, and he has graciously helped my collection by gifting me with some of her autographs. He's a true treasure - and I will be sharing more of the Hammer Women that Michael has given me when I update this section.
