BOBBY COMPLETE TEXT

It's been almost 100 years since the first King Kong, but tonight I saw Kong X Godzilla (2024) and so I'm inspired to write about Fay Wray .... who would probably not approve of this movie OR the audience.

In the beginning I felt like a kid in the '50s at a William castle movie because of the extreme CGI and gimmickry.  The "real people" in the cast were little more than extras, if you ask me. The leading lady reminded me of a young Carol Burnett in once upon a mattress which I know nobody in the audience would understand, the obligatory racially mixed cast with the funny black sidekick, the deaf indigenous daughter and the familiar face white guy from Downton Abbey.  Cue 1970s music by Golden Earring, kiss and look it up, stir in audience members that are not only filming what is happening on the screen on their phone, but also members in the audience, which included little children at a 10:00 p.m. show. I'm pretty sure Fay Wray would not be having any of this!

Now keep in mind that other than trace memories of bits of the 1932 King Kong on TV when I was a kid, the first version that I saw was with Jessica Lange and it was at that point in time that I said SHE is going to be a star! But what did I know? I also thought she was the daughter of Hope Lange at that time.  And then of course there was the Naomi Watts version which I thought was good... but now I'll talk about Fay Wray.
