Stanley: “Oh a miniature golf card! Boy, I used to score a pretty good in those days.”
Sex-starved Helen (sarcastically): “Well times change...”
Stanley: “Maybe I need a better course to play on.” (Looks directly into camera and laughs)
A typical example of the repartee between the muumuu wearing, sexually frustrated Helen Roper and her disinterested put-down-comic husband Stanley. Both played beautifully and with terrific timing by talented character actors Audra Lindley and Norman Fell.
The Ropers were the landlords of Jack, Janet, and Chrissy in the legendary “Three’s Company” and their characters were granted a spin-off lasting a little over a year and 28 episodes.
I’ve got a lot of stories related to Three’s Company, but right now, let’s appreciate these autographs! A fantastic duo-signed photo of Norman Fell and Audra Lindley in character as “The Ropers”, Norman Fell with a photo in his Emmy nominated role in “Rich Man, Poor Man” and … wait for it … Helen Roper in character AND a pin-up cheesecake photo of a young Audra Lindley! (I didn’t even know these existed until today.)
