DIANA ROSS HATES TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS!

“No, you're never gonna get it

Never ever gonna get it

No, not this time

No, you're never gonna get it” – En Vogue

Diana Ross - Why you treat me so bad?  I have been the first person there waiting for her to arrive at The  Paramount Theater in Oakland, knowing that she would come extra early. There are cones and guards making us stand dozens of feet away by the time four other fans are there and her limousine arrives. She waves and smiles but ignores our pleas. Damn there's only five of us!  Another show: Leaving the theater as the strains of her encore are still playing and I am the only person there on the other side of the car as she gets into her limo.  I'm holding a beautiful Kriegsmann photo of The Supremes that has already been signed by Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong up to the limo window. "Couldn't see through the tinted glass. She said "Home, James",  he hit the gas."  Two of us follow her limo, thinking that we can get her autograph as she goes into her hotel- she has been known to do that before.  But wait, the limo is heading towards the airport. But it's taking the back roads. Oh! Private plane. The limo stops at a hangar entrance and his hand reaches out to enter the security code to raise the barricade. But it's not working. We parallel park get out and my friend puts his 12-in single and I put my photo near the window. All we can see is a tiny bit of light, she is probably texting or calling someone and being pissed off that the driver does not have the proper code. It takes a few minutes before his hand comes out in the proper code is entered. But Diana is not here for it. Okay perhaps a tiny bit stalkerish but don't tell me that a Swiftie wouldn't do the same.

DIANA ROSS AUTOGRAPHS

I’ve got two signed 8x10’s of Diana that were given to me as gifts by my beautiful friend Bridgette.  She made sure they were authentic, and they are!  I’ve also got a signed index card (shown here) and a signed letter to an industry insider from when she was promoting “Red Hot Rhythm & Blues” in 1987, along with a signed copy of the album in ballpoint (not a great signature).  BUT SHE NEEDS TO SIGN THAT PHOTO WITH CINDY & MARY!!!

CINDY BIRDSONG AUTOGRAPH

Meeting Cindy Birdsong was such a highlight – along with meeting Jean Terrell.  I’ll fill in the details, with pictures from the night we met all the Supremes (except Diana, Flo & Mary) at the release party for the 4-CD box set in 2000.
