ARMS UP, LADIES!
2005 - HP Pavillion in San Jose – I saw Gwen with two of my childhood friends that I've known since the 1970's. It was so much fun to dance to Gwen's music with Nancy W. and Stacey F. I'm so lucky and grateful, that both of these ladies are lovely and unique and that we are still in contact. The concert was a very well done show, Gwen sounded great and we had our Harajuku dance moves down pat. (HA!)
I love so many of Gwen’s songs, but I think “Make Me Like You” is my absolute favorite. It just makes me feel some kind of way. Like I want to crush, cry, dance, or smash. Maybe all at once. It motivates me when it shuffles on my workout playlist and the video is one of her best, looking Marilyn Monroe glam. I think it was underrated, charting at only #54. I love it. Who can say that this isn’t catchy and that she doesn’t look amazing here? (I can’t hearrrrrr you)
2015 - The San Francisco Masonic - I bought a solo ticket to see Florence and the Machine because I'm such a big fan of Florence’s solo work. She was an absolute vocal powerhouse that night - and I paid rapt attention, even to the songs that were slower or that I didn't know Her stage presence kept me fully engaged.
After the show, I was near the front of a pretty small line near the exit door, across the street from the iconic Grace's Cathedral. They had given us all the cool poster that you see here, and some people were hoping she would autograph those. I had specifically picked and printed the arms up photo and Florence was very pleased with it. A very agreeable and pleasant encounter; a great evening all around.
Florence's work with Calvin Harris is still irresistible to me and this is a fave on my workout playlist.
P.S. Take a look at those ticket prices!
