What can be said about this movie, Kate/Rose and Leo/Jack, James Cameron "I'm king of the world", whether they would have both survived on the door, "My Heart Goes On", etc. that hasn't already been discussed ad nauseum and dissected into a million pieces?
Yes, I loved the movie, like so many others. Yes, I have seen Celine Dion perform the hit song in a dazzling Vegas number. And yes, I have many autographs connected to Titanic.
LEO & KATE - Yes, both are undeniably talented. But, in my opinion one is great, and the other mostly grates. Take your guess.
But have you heard “Leanora DeCapo” sing the dance version of “My Heart Will Go On” from a Gay Happenings CD?!?!
JAMES CAMERON “king of the world” on the Academy Awards. It’s interesting to watch the full 3 minutes and peruse the audience before his awkward shout. Note that his wife, Linda Hamilton, does not stand up. Perhaps it is because he had already met his next wife (Suzy Amis) during the making of the movie, and he and Linda were probably going through a tough time and putting on public face for The Oscars. Cameron won the Oscar on March 23, 1998 – he and Linda divorced in 1999 – he married Suzy Amis in 2000. Boom-boom-boom. (But I was glad Linda Hamilton walked away with mucho dinero after their divorce).
CELINE DION - I've seen her perform at least four times and have quite a bit of her music on vinyl and CD in my collection. Boy is she a talker on stage! But the vocals are incredible and she's so lovable.
I wrote to GLORIA STUART when I was a teenager, and I flooded her with a bunch of pictures that I had from magazines along with an original glamor 8x10. She very kindly and promptly replied and asked me if I had an extra copy of the picture with the hat since she apparently still had the headwear. (You can see her handwritten note on the bottom of my fan letter here.) I really don't remember if I ever got back to her, but my gut tells me I didn't. Bad boy. It wasn't until I was much older that I was able to appreciate her in films like "That Old Dark House" and "The Invisible Man". It was heartwarming to see her all dressed up at the Academy Awards when she was nominated for best supporting actress for this movie. Not to mention the $20 million Harry Winston 15-carat blue diamond necklace that she wore. Yoo hoo, bodyguard!
DANNY NUCCI - handsome man, beautiful eyelashes that look even better when they're wet.
There's a story about the time I was sitting in front of FRANCES FISHER at a concert in "Bobby's Briefs".
TRICIA O’NEIL just happened to be in my collection - I really "don't know her". Kind like Mariah and Jennifer Lopez.
MILLVINA DEAN was the youngest survivor of the Titanic, being only 9 weeks old when the ship sank, and she was also the last living survivor. Her autograph is shown here with author ROBERT BALLARD. Perhaps they were doing a book tour together. Another author autograph shown is CLIVE CUSSLER who wrote "Raise the Titanic!"
AUTHENTICITY- Titanic autographs shown here, other than Gloria Stuart, have been purchased by me in various collections throughout the years. I'm going to let fellow autograph collector Mike McGarbo @akawhatsinaname get back to me later with his studious opinion on authenticity for the big names. He's my autograph vetting Daddy.
The hull of this entry is submerged to the tune of one more campy version of “My Heart Will Go On” … I just can’t get enough high energy dance remakes.
