More than “The Morning Show”, “Big Little Lies”, “Walk the Line” or even “Legally Blonde” …my favorite performance of Reese Witherspoon’s is “Don’t y’all know who I am?!?!” when pulled over for a DUI.   

CRUEL INTENTIONS CAST AUTOGRAPHS 

Here it is August of 2025, I’m in Hawaii and I just finished watching “Cruel Intentions” for the first time in my hotel room last night.  Don’t ask what I did during the earlier part of the day ;) You can trust I do more than watch movies when in Honolulu!

But I’m so late, cuz I was a “Cruel Intentions” virgin.  But since I had recently paid $130 for this signed 11x17 mini poster signed by Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar, I had to watch it to justify my purchase.  And I’m so glad, I did.  It’s delicious!  

And a big shout out and muy amore to Mikey McGarbo who sold me some of these autographs, found me authentic ones to purchase, gave me autograph intel on SMG and encouraged to watch the movie.  

RYAN PHILLIPPE AUTOGRAPH 

TBH – I think my favorite role featuring Ryan is in “54” – probably because of the eye-candy, gay thematic and THE BEST soundtrack!  He and Reese will always be interlocked in my head, not just as co-parents, but as one of the best-looking Hollywood couples of their generation. This fantastic 10x8 from “54”.  It’s perfect – abs/lashes/eyes. Check.

Ryan is such a good bad-guy in “Cruel Intentions” – his line delivery and snarky asides, gratuitous nude butt shot and the best line to Reese Witherspoon when he’s trying to seduce her: “I didn’t mean to offend you.  I just picked up on a little of that lesbian vibe”. HA!

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR AUTOGRAPH 

“Everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way.”

She may have said that in “Cruel Intentions”, but autograph fans do NOT love her.  Sarah HATES to sign autographs.  Early on in her career, her mother signed almost all her fan mail and when she did sign in-person, she had a thing for signing in the darkest spot of the photo.  She did ONE fan convention and hated it.  A couple of private signings (hence my poster). Then she stopped signing her last name entirely and then even later was signing just her first name or SMG – when she co-authored a book. Ewwwwwww. 

She’s very good at playing a bitch on-screen. Ahem… But really.  She was brilliant, evil, and layered in “Cruel Intentions”.  And BTW the cocaine in a necklace was REALLY a thing for many back in the day.  (I’ll share my autograph of Michael Pare wearing one)

The autographs of Sarah that I already had in my collection are forgeries (of her MOTHER’S signature, no less!) on index cards and a forged 8x10 photo.  They got the “sign in the dark part” right, but everything else is wrong.  

Most of the autographs on eBay are forgeries and the ones that are authentic are expensive.  I’m lucky that Mikey found this $130 steal signed by both Ryan and Sarah!

P.S.  After watching SMG in “Cruel Intentions”, I started watching “Ringer” (22 episodes; 1 season in 2011 on the CW).  I am now officially a super-fan and will be diving deep into all things SMG.

He then beseeched me to be the caregiver of the solo SMG shot.  I thought the 8x10 of her was “too sweet” at first.  But now, if I look hard enough, I can “see” the beyotch from “Cruel Intentions”.

And I can understand WHY she doesn’t like signing autographs.  This video of her arriving at Sundance and being swamped is quite amusing – watch her interactions with her assistant and the fans.  She’s a BOSS bitch.  In a good way!

REESE WITHERSPOON AUTOGRAPH

This authentically signed index card came from a collection of over 1,500 autographs for which I paid $.88 each.  Thank you to collector Eugene J. and wanting to sell his autographs to switch collecting to gold coins!

P.S. I think Reese is a very talented actress and I like her onscreen, but on a personal level I love, LOVE the fact that she is an OCD over-achiever and always striving for the best.  I can so relate to that.

SELMA BLAIR AUTOGRAPH 

Selma is just great – always and forever!  Whether it’s “Hellboy” or John Water’s “A Dirty Shame”, I love to watch her on the screen.  The naivete of her character in “Cruel Intentions” is so honestly like that of a little girl, that just watching her intimate scenes (with ANY of the characters) feels voyeuristically inappropriate; until her character’s sense of humor changes the scene into comedy.  

Her personal strength going through MS and sharing awareness about chronic illness makes me love her even more. Plus she just gets better with age, looking amazing and sharing her confidence. 

McGarbo was my drug dealer for this great, autographed photo of Selma as well.  Note the accompanying photo of Selma doing the signing.  

CHRISTINE BARANSKI AUTOGRAPH 

“Don’t give me any of that racist crap!  My husband and I gave money to Colin Powell.”  LOL Clearly “Cruel Intentions” was made before the ‘woke’ world.  

Christine Baranski is a scene stealer.  A career made of characters that FORCE your eyes to watch her.  Even when sharing the screen with Meryl Streep (calls Christine one of her best friends) or Cybill Shepherd (jealous of Baranski’s breakout success and Emmy win on HER show. Harumph!)

The signed card you see here is another winner from the $.88 each collection.

SWOOSIE KURTZ AUTOGRAPH 

Swoosie is Ryan’s therapist in “Cruel Intentions” dealing with his sex addiction, and she only has a few minutes of screen time.  But she and Ryan open the film – and she gets to go ballistic when she finds out that Ryan has posed nude photos of her daughter (Tara Reid) on the internet.  She hands Ryan a signed copy of her book in the film and of course I liked that.

The signed 8x10 here was bought in a collection of $3.80 each.  I’m telling ya, I was lucky back in the day with buying huge collections before the autograph market caught fire.

TARA REID AUTOGRAPH 

“Cruel Intentions” features a cameo by Tara Reid within the first minutes of the film, and (I’m sorry Tara fans), but it’s a contender for the most laughably bad 45 seconds on film.  

I do love the signed 8x10 of a very cute Tara that I got for $25 from Mikey Mike.

FREDDIE PRINZE JR. AUTOGRAPH 

Dear Freddie – I’m sorry that you are an addendum to “Cruel Intentions”.  It wasn’t supposed to go down that way.  But your wife seems to run the roost, so here you are.  I see you were forced to sit in the backyard to sign this photo, because Sarah didn’t want you to be filmed in the house signing autographs.  So perhaps that was a Cruel Intention.  SMG = ball buster.  But Freddie, you seem like a sweet Scooby-Doo and your dad was legend for my generation.  Hugs to FPJ.  And thanks to my friend Mikey for selling me this photo.
