Michelle Yeoh 100% deserves her Oscar.
When I went to a screening of “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at the Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco, I was really looking forward to the pre-show and I was not disappointed! Although I had known of plenty of Michelle's previous work, the pre-show focused on clips of her various Kick-Ass fight scenes and martial arts skills. They were simply stunning to me since I hadn't seen many of those films.
Primarily I knew Michelle from “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Memoirs of a Geisha”, both high quality films that I really enjoyed. And I got a kick out of her as the snooty mother-in-law in “Crazy Rich Asians” - especially during the Mahjong scene with Constance Wu.
“Everything Everywhere All at Once” was exactly as its title implied and I just adored her even more after walking out of that theater. Such a “WTF just happened” movie. Love.
Michelle is a gracious and classy lady and it is amazing that as a member of franchises like James Bond, Star Trek and The Mummy, along with being an Oscar winner, she is a very accommodating autograph signer. Her attitude of gratitude towards her fans, her career, and her longevity within the industry is a heartwarming throwback to the stars of yesteryear. I’ll watch her in just about anything.
