Quigley, Linnea

I don’t remember how they came to be in my possession once upon a time, but I used to have a massive collection of Fangoria magazines.  I wonder if I should have kept them.  Hmmm.  Well, I didn’t.  I sold most of them, even though there might be a few lurking about the castle.

What I remember most about those magazines though is that Linnea Quigley was ALL OVER them.  She was in so many issues and maybe on so many covers?  I just remember thinking “Damn! Who is this girl and why is she not familiar to me since I really love horror films?!?!”

Here we are in 2024 and as I look through her credits, I realize that I’ve only seen two of her films “Return of the Living Dead” (almost everything Zombie-related is on my menu) and “Night of the Demons”.  The latter I saw only because it was being shown on Horror Tuesday at the Alamo Drafthouse and I was kinda bored.  The movie, to me, was just OK.

She is known as a scream queen of B-films, but I think many of her movies fell off my radar because I was into movies that delivered more scare and less sex and boobs.

I do like this color still of Linnea that I have in my autograph collection.  I believe it to be authentic.  As for the autograph on the B&W still with Tony Todd … I have questions.   The L doesn't look right.

UPDATE: I met Linnea in person at Scarefest in Lexington in November 2025. Every time I walked by her table, she either had a long line of people waiting or she was on a break. Finally, late on Friday night, I saw only one guy at her table. It was a teenager with about a dozen DVD's for her to sign. And I noted that she was really patient, carefully selected just the right pen color for each of his autographs and would comment and ask questions about the movies. You can tell she enjoys interacting with fans.

When it was my turn, I had one photo (in black top) that I brought with me and a chainsaw photo from her table. I had noted from my own collection and watching her sign that night, that she usually just signs her first name and a heart. I specifically asked for her to sign her full name; which I'm surprised more fans don't do. It was cute when we were taking a picture together that we both almost simultaneously told the camera guy "HIGHER!"

We looked at each other and laughed. She just said "The neck, you know!"
