Wallace, Dee

Can you please inscribe this photo with “Fuck you, dog!”?

She didn’t blink an eye as she fulfilled my request.  But Dee Wallace held up the composite photo from Cujo that I had created and said, “Where’d you get this?”  As I showed her a similar composite photo that I had created with shots from “E.T.” and asked her to inscribe “No penis breath talk in this house!”, she again said, “Where’d you get this one, too?”

It was 2014 and I started to explain to Dee how I would use Bing to find high resolution images from her films to assemble and create a unique montage or composite photo for her to autograph.  She was a bit perplexed and called her husband over.  It’s funny that there are a LOT of celebrities who never Google themselves or look for new pictures that may have been posted.  Dee and her husband both loved the photos, and I said you can make these really easily yourself and sell them at your table.  Her male friend took down my number and said he would call me when they returned home from the convention.

Dee Wallace has had a great career and is hugely popular with convention fans because of “The Hills Have Eyes”, “Cujo”, “Critters” and “E.T.”.  But also, she is really just one of the sweetest and nicest people you’ll ever meet.  She’s very authentic, fully engaged and genuinely curious about other people.  When she interacts with us fans, it is just a comfortable discussion and not purely transactional focused; she has been known to just sign extra stuff for free without you even asking.  Just a lovely lady.

About a week later, I got a call from Dee’s friend asking if I could help explain how I created the photos.  “Sure!” I said, “Just go to Bing images and type in Dee Wallace”. He said “Wait, go slowly.  What do I do first and how do I go to Bing?”

“Well, you launch a browser window and type in www.bing.com ….”

“Wait, I’m writing this down.  Go slowly.”

It was a nice, kinda long chat and he was completely friendly and eventually got what I was trying to say.  It was just a testament to how easy it is to care for and want to do things for Dee Wallace.  I have very fond memories of this sweet woman and her man-friend.

P.S. I recently saw "3 From Hell" where she plays a brutal lesbian prison guard - WHOAH! Definitely no penis breath in that house.
