Bunny Yeager was the Annie Leibovitz of pinup model photography. Her photography sessions shooting Bettie Page with live cheetahs and in the nude (except for a Santa’s cap) for Playboy’s January 1955 centerfold, catapulted Bettie Page to stardom.
Bunny was also an attractive pinup model herself. Not only an accomplished photographer, but she was also one of the first to use natural light in outdoor shots. Bunny also contributed greatly to making the bikini really popular because of her two-piece swimsuit designs.
You know that famous bikini shot of Ursula Andress coming out of the water in "Dr. No"? Bunny Yeager was there that do and shot many memorable poses of Ursula in that bikini! Much respect to a woman photographer who celebrated women’s bodies in photography and then subsequently stepped away from shooting for men’s magazines when the arena became too “smutty” for her.
Bunny was creative, clever, and ahead of her time. Not to mention, she has a real nice-looking autograph!
P.S. I also love that Sarah Paulson, one of my favorite actresses, played Bunny in the 2005 movie “The Notorious Bettie Page”.
