I LOVE ROB ZOMBIE!  His music, his look, his movies, his horror-themed sensibilities.  It’s all like candy to me.  First, anything that has “Zombie” in its name automatically pulls me in like a magnet.  Thank you to the original “Dawn of the Dead”.  When I saw his name on CD’s while thrifting, I figured $1.50 to learn new music by a man named Zombie?  I’m in.  And then I ended up really liking his music.

His head-banging aggressive rock, theatricality, and twisted thematic horror throughout is delicious.  Quite the opposite of loving Dua Lipa and Doja Cat for example (whom I do), but my tastes are eclectic and often off-brand.

I would have gone to see “House of 1,000 Corpses” anyway, because it ticked off so many Bobby-must-see boxes.  Horror. Check. Set in a horror museum. Check. Bloody murders. Check. Scary clown. Check. Karen Black?!?! DOUBLE CHECK.  And directed by Rob Zombie? WTF? Hell, yes.

The movie did not disappoint.  It was right up my alley.  I wanted more!  “Devil’s Rejects” was even MORE gruesome and disturbing.  Pass the popcorn; I loved it. Rob knows how to fill his cast with interesting pop culture footnotes, and I revel in it.  You already know I’ve got stories about encounters with Priscilla Barnes, Leslie Easterbrook, E.G. Daily, Deborah Von Falkenburg and most notably, Ginger Lynn.  When we talked, during our second meeting and I asked about “Devil’s Rejects” she was like “Fuck!  I should have made more copies of that photo.  People keep asking and are buying more of that photo than any others.”

Even Rob’s “Halloween” and “Halloween II” remakes had my interest.  I know that some of his movies get mixed or downright bad reviews, but I don’t care. Rob’s got my loyalty and interest, so sometimes I can overlook an imperfect release because his intent and vision almost always resonate with me.

After all, he IS a Zombie.
